I remember walking out of my first massage and stopping just outside the therapist's home. I took in a deep breath while noticing...the air felt different...the world looked different... In that moment I thought, " I would really like to do this for people." (The seed was planted.)
At the time, I was a teacher of students with disabilities with Jefferson County Public Schools. I loved my work and never dreamed I would leave that job. I continued to get massage through the years to help manage stress and to nurture my body, mind, and spirit.
The universe had different plans. Tremendous changes began- death of my dad, changes in the program where I worked, and marriage (to name a few). It was clear the universe had led me to a career change as well.
I've been practicing massage since 1998, and have trained with amazing instructors who have been leaders in this field.
I've learned through experience that massage can do so much more than help us deal with stress and provide nurturing. I've personally sought bodywork for treatment of injuries, to help cope with pain, and as a huge part of my rehab from knee surgery.
I am so grateful for that seed which was planted so many years ago, for how bodywork has nurtured my own health and personal growth. I am also grateful that I've been able to support others in their journey as they've sought out massage, reiki, or MFR.
